I’ve been living with the same kitchen recessed fixtures for about 15 years. A few years ago I swapped out the original 60-watt incandescent bulbs for 11-watt LED equivalents and called it good — except for one nagging aesthetic: the gap between the bulb and the housing trim ring that made every fixture look vaguely unfinished. Not broken, not worth a dedicated fix, just quietly annoying every time the light caught it right. These ALUSSO retrofit fixtures solved that problem so elegantly that I’m slightly annoyed it took me this long.Installation genuinely could not be simpler, the box’s recommendation to hire a licensed electrician notwithstanding. The retrofit disc screws directly into your existing E26 medium-base socket — the same socket your old bulb used — and the trim ring is held against the ceiling by spring tension. The whole swap took less time to execute than it did to set up the ladder. The wiring has plenty of play, the screw-in connector seats securely, and there’s nothing in the process that requires tools or electrical knowledge beyond “righty tighty.” The trim ring does require a little upward wiggling to seat flush against the ceiling, and spring tension means it could drift down slightly over time — but pushing it back up is a two-second fix.The light quality is the real win here. At 12 watts producing 1100 lumens, these put out substantially more useful light than the LED bulbs they replaced, and the 110-degree beam angle fills the room rather than spotlighting the floor. The five color temperature options — 2700K through 6000K, selectable via a small slider on the fixture body — are genuinely useful, especially when you’re trying to match existing lights before you’ve replaced the whole room. The 2700K warm white is a dead match for my old bulbs, which is reassuring even though every fixture in the kitchen will eventually get this treatment. Dimming is smooth and flicker-free, which isn’t guaranteed at this price point. At roughly $5.83 per fixture in the 12-pack, the cost is comparable to simply buying decent LED bulbs — except these also eliminate the housing gap, upgrade the trim, and mean you’ll likely never touch these lights again for years. If you have older 5” or 6” incandescent or early-LED hi-hat fixtures, this is one of the more satisfying and cost-effective home upgrades available. Highly recommended.
So far, so good. Delivery as promised. The installation couldn't be easier. Still practicing with the color changes, but that is a user thing, not a seller thing.
This is the second attempt in ordering a retrofit can light WiFi RGB housing. This one operates better, but lacks. I cannot control a room with what I want to. I have to stay within the parameters of the app. Note: the app is free. I received the lights with 25% of the spring clip receptacles already broken. I ordered x2 of the 6 pack. I used hot glue to secure all of the spring clips into their respective places. I did not want them to break in the future and cause the lights to shift or fall out of the can light socket. The lights work well as far as individually customization. This purchase was not up to what I was expecting. If you are looking for basic home automation, than this will suffice.
These installed perfectly in minutes in my whole house. Has several different light settings, and all are great. I've had these installed for a little over 6 months now, and they're still going strong! Do recommend!
