These solar lights are functional and have several settings that are very convenient. They come with a small solar panel and the light unit as well as a remote. The lights can be set to turn on at a certain time, to turn on with the remote or to turn on via emotion sensor. They also have settings for the color temperature and brightness. There is a small battery inside that lets you use them at night when the sun is not available.I expected them to be equivalent to a floodlight, but they are not as bright as expected. The reason that I'm giving it three stars instead of five is that there is no way to change the settings without the remote. If you live in a household with children or pets the remote can be easily lost and there is no longer any way to change the settings unless you get a new one which would be a giant hassle. If you do not have kids or pets, this would be much less of a problem so they make work just fine for you.I have not bothered to get up early in the morning to check and see if the battery lasts all night, so I cannot speak to that.
So I got this solar flood light for the side of my garage, mostly to help with late-night trash runs and keep the raccoons from throwing a party in my driveway. Didn’t expect much honestly—figured it’d be one of those “meh” solar lights that kinda glows but doesn’t really light anything. But wow, this thing is a beast.First off, brightness is no joke. It’s got adjustable color temps from 3000K to 6500K, which I didn’t even know was a thing until I started messing with the remote. You can go warm and cozy or bright and clinical depending on what you need. I keep it on the cooler setting for max visibility, and it lights up half my yard like it’s daylight. My neighbor legit asked if I installed a streetlamp 😂The motion sensor is super responsive. Like, it picks up movement from a good distance—maybe 20 feet or so—and turns on instantly. No lag, no flickering. I tested it by walking slowly, fast, even tried sneaking past it (don’t ask why lol), and it caught me every time. Great for security and also just not tripping over stuff when you’re carrying groceries in the dark.Installation was easy-ish. I’m not super handy but I got it up in about 15 mins with a drill and a ladder. The mounting bracket is solid, and the light itself feels sturdy—not plasticky or cheap. It’s been through two rainstorms already and still works perfect. Waterproof rating seems legit. The remote control is a nice bonus. I didn’t think I’d use it much, but it’s actually super handy for switching modes without climbing up to the unit. You can dim the light, change the color temp, or set it to stay on for a certain amount of time. I set mine to motion mode with a 30-second timer and it’s been perfect.Battery life? So far, so good. Charges up during the day even when it’s cloudy (we’re in Washington so yeah, clouds are kinda the default), and lasts all night. I checked it at 5am once and it still had juice. No wires, no fuss.Overall, I’m super impressed. It’s bright, smart, durable, and actually looks kinda sleek on the wall. Thinking of grabbing another one for the backyard and maybe gifting one to my brother—he’s always complaining about his dark driveway and this would be perfect.
We got this light for additional security and it is working wonderfully. It was super easy to install and the motion and light add great security to our property without having to have an electrician come and install electrical because it is all solar. It comes with a nice long cord that allows you to install the solar panel where you will get the most sunlight. The Battery works great too as the first night we had only like 3 hrs of sunlight before the sun set and it still worked because of the batt backup. I would recommend.
Another for my solar collection, to try out. Yes, I was traumatized by years of the local power company hitting us with unexpected blackouts, and even one week after a hurricane with only spotty electricity, while the next block down got it on full the day after because they were on the grid with a hospital. Then there's the cost of the monthly electrical bill. Thank you, I'll move what I can to our abundant sunshine. This has what I consider the best configuration. The solar cell is not right on the lights, because sometimes the dark spot you want to light up doesn't get good sun, like under an overhang or on the north side of something. You may need to illuminate a closed space. This has a full ten feet of cord between cell and lights, so you can probably get a better charge at that distance. As well, you can use a USB connection to charge the cell when the weather is gloomy. If you had to use that option most of the time, just getting a unit that runs off a wire would seem sensible, unless having it installed is too expensive.Of course, when the power goes out, at night we will want to floodlight the front gate and stairs to see what's happening, and get around safely. We'll also do our cooking on the lanai out by the top of the stairs. Hot water for coffee is required for brain function, after all. This system will let us adjust the lighting for what's happening, whether a bright worklight or only needed to pop up when someone comes around. It adequately lights the stairs from the top, but not brilliantly. From up on the lanai, you can see who is outside the gate. Certainly, it will illuminate the hibachi area well enough. It will do nicely as an emergency light, but I might want to augment it if I were using it full time. The charging time of 8-10 hours of sunlight could make this less than useful in the temperate zones in the winter half of the year. Here in the tropics, we can probably pull that much even in January, unless it's raining. If we know a power outage is likely (like a hurricane on track), we can use the USB connection to charge this up before the clouds move in. That probably helps in other sun zones: spend most of the day on solar, then top it up off the grid.Packaging was good foam inside the cardboard box, and everything went back in easily. The button on the back is covered by a rubber button, part of the cover for the USB port. It can come off, but doesn't need to. It clicks you through four modes, in case you can't find the remote. Now we just need to decide where to put the bracket that will sit empty most of the time.
Honestly, not much to say—this just works. Super easy to install, no wiring needed, and it was exactly what I needed for a dark corner of my backyard. I set it up once and haven’t touched it since. You do get options like brightness control, color temperature, and a remote, but I didn’t even bother with most of that. I just set it to motion sensor mode, and it’s been rock solid. It picks up movement from a good distance and lights up exactly when I need it to.The solar charging is great, and it even has a backup Type-C option if you need it, which is a smart touch. Build feels solid, weather hasn’t been an issue so far.Only real downside? I’ve seen brighter lights out there. This isn’t the most intense floodlight, but for most purposes—especially general yard or side-of-house lighting—it’s totally solid.Would I get another one? Yeah. Highly recommend if you want a no-hassle, motion-activated light that just works.
